10 Things to Do with Hamburger
1 Make nachos. Brown the burger, drain and mix in Cholula and salsa. Top chips or tortillas with hamburger, shredded cheese and microwave.
2 Make spaghetti sauce. Brown beef, add a jar of marinara and spices you have on hand. Pour over cooked spaghetti and sprinkle with Parmesan.
3 Make meatloaf. Combine ground beef with 1 egg and about 12 crushed saltine crackers (any crackers or breadcrumbs). Add a dash or Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce and season well with salt and pepper or other seasonings. Form a loaf (not too fat or it will take forever to cook) and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done. You can top with ketchup, if desired
4 Make meatloaf muffins. Follow the same instructions for meatloaf but place in greased muffin tins and top with cheese.
5 Make hamburger and noodles. Mix cooked hamburger with a can of diced tomatoes and spices. Mix with cooked noodles and top with Parmesan. Add onion to the hamburger, if you have one on hand.
6 Salisbury Steak. Mix burger like you’re making meatloaf and form patties. Broil for 6-7 minutes per side. Heat a jar of brown gravy and top the patties.
7 Stuffed baked potatoes. Bake large potatoes until cooked through (microwave for 10 minutes first to cut down on the cooking time). Brown burger and add ketchup and mustard to the hamburger. Season with salt and pepper. Top the potato with meat mixture. Top with shredded cheese and a little sour cream, if you have it.
8 Make Sloppy Joe’s. Brown the burger with ½ onion and drain. Add ketchup and mustard (more ketchup than mustard) and stir well. Top hamburger buns with sloppy Joe mixture.
9 Taco salad: Brown the burger and mix with either taco seasoning or salsa. Top lettuce with ground beef and black beans (heated) and then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
10 Chili: Mix cooked ground beef with 1 chili seasoning packet, a can of black or red kidney beans and 1 can of diced tomatoes. Top with shredded cheese, onions and sour cream.
